Successful season for Maidenhead Hockey Club
Kempton Carr Croft has been a proud supporter of Maidenhead Hockey Club for many years and this season we have once again been thoroughly entertained seeing squads of all age groups at the club progress through their leagues.
We are kit sponsor for the men’s 1st team, we asked Vice-Captain Rob Kempton to share his report on an outstanding season for the team;
“In a highly competitive league, where only one side is guaranteed to go up, we knew it would be a tough task but had the ability and belief to aim for promotion. Although the side pushed hard, the chance for promotion slipped with just 2 games to go, and we finished tied 3rd on 46 points. Based on the point’s total, this was the most successful season we have had in recent years.
The side will now start their summer break, but plans are already being made by the club management for another shot at promotion next season so the players won’t be resting for long!
I’d like to give a mention Christopher Brown, our captain who showed great leadership and positivity throughout the season and our coach, ex international player Seamus O’Connell who has brought many improvements and encouraged the squads development. Finally, I want to mention Aqeel Hussain, who ended the season as the league’s top goal scorer and Rob Burrows who was awarded the team’s player of the season award. Well done all on such a rewarding season.
The club highly values its support from the local business community and would like to thank Kempton Carr Croft for their continued support.”
It sounds as though they have definitely earned a rest over the summer break but we’re already looking forward to seeing how they get on again next season and have our fingers crossed for that promotion!
